At St Patrick's College we recognise that choosing the next step in your son's educational journey will be one of the most important decisions you and your son will make. Obtaining as much information as you can is vital in making this decision. Whilst this School's Guide provides a brief overview of the College, we'd encourage you to explore the College further through both our College website (www.stpatricks.qld.edu.au) in addition to attending our annual Open Day. We trust that you will be able to learn as much as you can about every aspect of life at St Patrick's, including our pastoral care system, counselling and careers advice, subject areas and curriculum and our sports and music programs.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

St Patrick's College has a proud history of educating young men in the Edmund Rice tradition for over 60 years. At St Patrick's we believe that the provision of the Catholic faith for our school community is at the core of everything we do.

St Patrick's is committed to achieving academic excellence to meet the educational needs of future Australian leaders, reformers, innovators and workers. The College also has a strong focus on social justice, a sense of community and actively nurturing the spiritual development of the young men in our care.  To complement our Religious Education Curriculum, St Patrick's College offers a comprehensive sequential retreat and service solidarity program for our school community. St Patrick's is renowned as having one of the leading Service Programs in schools across Australia. The challenge to our students is for them to put their "Faith into Action".

The College's House system provides continuity in Pastoral Care over Years 5 to 12 and is the primary structure in helping students to develop a sense of belonging to the College and fostering college and community spirit. The young men of St. Patrick's are strongly encouraged to be active members of their community. The College offers an extensive co-curricular program covering both cultural and sporting dimensions.

An integrated 5-12 curriculum; academic and vocational pathways; a one-to-one laptop program is offered across the College and integrated into the curriculum; a strong focus on boys' education exits across all curriculum areas; engaging and relevant; catering for different abilities and interests.
A high quality learning environment; buildings recently constructed or renovated to provide modern facilities; classrooms with a strong focus on Information Technology; air conditioned classrooms; specialised Art, Music, and Drama facilities; 6 innovative Science labs; one-to-one computing; 7 dedicated Design and Technology facilities, Multi - purpose centre; Resource Centre; excellent sporting and cultural facilities; large gymnasium; swimming pool; tennis courts; basketball courts; synthetic sports oval; off-site facilities include 6 sporting fields.

The co-curricular program at St Patrick’s College is extensive with a full sporting and cultural program. The College is a member of the Associated Independent Colleges (AIC) sporting program and offers cultural pursuits in Debating, Chess, instrumental music, bands, choir, public speaking and Theatresports.

The College’s House system provides continuity in Pastoral Care over Years 5 to 12 and is the primary structure in helping students to develop a sense of belonging to the College and fostering school and community spirit. The Big Brother – Little Brother program is highly successful in providing leadership opportunities for every Year 12 student and strong pastoral care for new students.

Faith
We are a faith community guided by the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, as reflected in the Gospel message of compassion, peace and justice. As a Catholic community, the College explores and deepens its faith and spirituality through action, prayer and reflective practice. We are called to keep a particular focus on the marginalised, through a preferential option for the poor.

Community
We provide a caring, safe, inclusive and welcoming environment, grounded in faith, service, social justice and human belonging. Our community celebrates and embraces diversity. Driven by strong caring relationships, we prioritise the moral, emotional and intellectual development of each member of our community. In doing so, we promote partnerships between parents, students, staff and the wider community. As such our aim is to affirm the dignity of each person.

Excellence
We challenge all members of our community to achieve holistic excellence. Opportunities and support are provided to each person to pursue their goals, develop persistence and resilience, and ultimately realise their own potential.

Stewardship
We are mindful that we live in the present and must fully utilise current opportunities. The College is also conscious that it must acknowledge the past and ensure for the future. All members of the College community share responsibility for just and wise stewardship of the College’s culture, relationships, resources and future.
Faith in Action:
To foster a community in which every member is empowered with the skills and desire to create a better world for all, with the person and story of Jesus Christ as our foundation, understood through the lens of Blessed Edmund Rice.

Teaching & Learning:
To provide engaging learning experiences through innovative pedagogical practices, which are framed by the Australian Curriculum, promote principles of Justice and Peace, and effectively utilise eLearning so that students are ready
to succeed within the dynamic landscape of the 21st century.

Student Life:
To develop young men of strong character based on Gospel values, nurturing them through the formation of right relationships and the exploration of their potential across a broad range of experiences.

Community:
To create an inclusive environment underpinned by a commitment to and respect for the dignity of the individual.

Governance:
To implement and maintain a system of governance that provides the structure to support the College in achieving its vision and goals. This system will have at its core transparency, efficiency, and accountability and will facilitate informed decision-making.
We, the community of St Patrick’s College, are inspired and guided by the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice.

We seek excellence in teaching and learning, and aim to provide a Catholic, holistic, liberating education.

We strive for justice through building right relationships based on solidarity, service and respect for the dignity of every individual.

Life for the students of St Patrick's College is built on the Gospel values of the Catholic Church. St Patrick's is a distinct community that cherishes the religious, academic and social development of young men.

Pastoral Care

An atmosphere of care prevails at St Patrick's where each young man's dignity is affirmed so that he may confidently strive for excellence in all dimensions of his life. This ethos of care aims to ensure the formation of strong characters that are based on Gospel values. Students are welcomed into one of nine Houses as a means of optimising personal care and leadership opportunities.

Sporting Program

Students are encouraged to explore their potential and pursue excellence within the realm of the College's extensive sporting program which includes inter-school and intra-school competitions. Opportunities exist for students of all ages, abilities and ambitions to participate in a range of activities.

Cultural Program

Cultural expression is nurtured by St Patrick's and valued as a critical component in the development of an individual. The young men of St Patrick's are provided with a variety of cultural opportunities including performing arts, public speaking, theatresports, debating and chess.

Extra Opportunities

Principal's Image

St Patrick's is a Catholic school in the Brisbane Archdiocese catering for young men from Year 5 to Year 12. The College, established on its current site in 1952 by the Christian Brothers, is a member of the national educational network operated by Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA).

We are a community that values our history of more than 60 years of service for young men, whilst also embracing new ideas, opportunities and technologies as we seek to foster men of action.

MEN OF FAITH
We are committed to fostering a caring and inclusive community. Every St Patrick's College student is asked to actively engage in the life and mission of the College so that we can support him in growing into a young man with a sure knowledge of who he is and how he can make a difference to his community.

MEN OF LEARNING
We take pride in our promotion of learning excellence. Whether it is Year 5 students learning about Edmund Rice, volleyballers practicing their skills or Chemical titration teams working in the Chemistry lab, every young man has a part to play in the life of the College. We are proud of our students' success, with consistently high results in OP and vocational courses a testament to the quality of our teaching and our ability to bring out the best in each young man.

MEN OF HUMILITY
Through our House-based pastoral care system, every St Patrick's College young man is guided to form respectful relationships based on integrity and compassion.

I encourage you to explore our College website and visit our community at its annual Open Day - we hope that in visiting, you may gain an appreciation for life as part of the St Patrick's community, a sense of our values and history and access useful information on the variety of opportunities the College provides.  Our hope is that your connection to our College just begins here and will lead to a developing relationship with us.
