New chapter as St Luke’s and Loquat Valley become one

In mid-2016, the Anglican Schools Corporation announced the expansion of St Luke’s Grammar School in Dee Why to include a new Junior School Campus in Bayview.

Previously known as Loquat Valley Anglican School, the school is now part of St Luke’s Grammar School and will be known as St Luke’s Grammar School, Bayview Campus.

“For over 20 years we have had strong ties with Loquat Valley Anglican School as we have offered their students preferential places in Year 7. In fact, the majority of Loquat Valley parents have chosen St Luke’s for their child’s senior school,” said Mrs Robinson, Principal of St Luke’s Grammar School.

“St Luke’s has strong wait lists for both Junior and Senior School placements, and we hope that our new Junior School Campus will provide an attractive alternative, particularly for families with younger children living further up the Peninsula,” she added. “We currently have many families with a child enrolled at our Senior School and a child at Loquat Valley.”

The Campuses will run as separate sites under the guidance of one School Council and one Principal, and plans are in place to ensure interaction between them. “Combined sport carnivals, excursions and school camps are just some of the possibilities we are exploring to bring the students and the two communities together,” explained Mrs Robinson.

Both Loquat Valley Anglican School and St Luke’s Grammar School are part of the Anglican School Corporation. Recently, the Anglican Schools Corporation has been exploring a number of options to ensure that Loquat Valley Anglican School continues to grow and flourish.
After careful consideration, the Corporation asked St Luke’s Grammar School Council to consider expanding to include another Junior School campus. “We were delighted to be trusted with the future of this community. Our schools have so much in common. We are both co-educational and share the same vision, principles, Christian foundation and geographic proximity. The consolidation of the two campuses under the St Luke’s banner is a natural progression,” explained Mrs Robinson.

“Over the coming months, our focus is on the welfare of the students and staff at Loquat Valley as we transition to one school. We are very excited to welcome the students, parents and staff to the St Luke’s community,” concluded Mrs Robinson.
