Welcome to St Paul’s Lutheran Primary School. The school was established to provide a high quality education within a safe and caring Christian environment.

At St Paul’s, there is a feeling that we are all part of an extended family. Our teachers, parents and students work together to make that feeling of belonging a reality. We hope that you, through your personal interest, involvement and cooperation with us, will come to feel very much part of our school community.

At St Paul's, we welcome prospective parents and families to visit us and take a free, no obligation tour of our facilities. These can be arranged during business hours, either during term time or over the school holiday periods. Call us on (07) 5495 5899 to organise this tour.

About Us

St Paul’s is organised from Prep to Year 6, with three classes in Prep to Year 2, and two classes in Years 3 to 6. Class numbers are capped at 26 (Prep) and 28 (Years 1 to 6). If St Paul's runs a composite class in any particular clandar year, this class is capped at 20. Each class has its own specific room and class teacher. Teachers plan their term’s and year’s work collaboratively within each grade level. Teachers may also choose to exchange classes for minor subject specialisation.
St Paul’s is a Christian school which strives to operate within a Christian values framework. This is evident in the caring way staff meet the educational needs of students and at times, reach out and support families in need. We have embedded into our teaching program a Whole School Values Plan. This Plan focuses cyclically through the year on the following values:

Love
Forgiveness
Compassion
Justice
Humility
Appreciation
Service
Hope
Courage
Quality
Christ is the model on whom our values are based and we take comfort in knowing that when we fall short, He forgives us. This free forgiveness is referred to as God’s Grace and is a key doctrine of the Lutheran Church and its schools.
St Paul’s strives to make all newcomers welcome. New students in class are appointed “buddies” to assist them to adjust to their new school. Parents can also participate in grade level social functions organised by a year-level parent coordinator.

A strong Pastoral Care program is extended to the students through its values program. This along with the Life Long Qualities of Learners is embedded into the curriculum. In addition to this, teachers endeavour to impart the importance of caring about others not just at school but around the world. Students actively support a sponsor child overseas and other charitable fund raising initiatives.

The school’s Christian Studies course aims to inculcate a love for others and for God. Students attend weekly chapel and have daily class devotions. The services of the School Pastor (Chaplain) are available for students and their families wanting someone to share their burdens. The school’s church community has a prayer circle that is open to including support for school families.

Teachers conduct their lessons in an environment that is calm, happy and caring. Students are encouraged to respect other people, places and themselves in a disciplined way. Teachers guide their students socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually as well as educationally. Positive reinforcement is employed to encourage students to make good choices. Warnings are issued before sanctions are applied.

Feature Story

Bronze Badges bring smiles

8 bronze badge recipientsYear 6 girls have more reason to smile than normal – they’re the first ever recipients of the new ‘School Leader’ system recently introduced at St Paul’s Lutheran Primary School.

Kacey Dickens and Ashley Fox received their Bronze Leader badges last week, in front of the entire Senior School. “It was great to be given the badges,” said the girls. “We’d worked hard for them, and now we can start working towards the next one!”

The new School Leader system acknowledges the service that students in Year Six make to the school. Students receive points each time that they volunteer their time to help the school or other students. Helping to run the school newspaper; refereeing Junior soccer games at break times; and leadership in school music groups all earn points. 20 points earns a Bronze badge, 50 points a Silver badge, and 100 points a Gold badge.

The new system was an initiative of Deputy Principal Mr Neil Sampson. “It’s been working very well. We have a large group of students who volunteer their time to help the school, so we’re glad that we can now acknowledge their service to us,” he said.
