St Michael’s is the independent school of choice for Melbourne families who value dignity, respect, care and compassion, and who want their children to feel safe, nurtured and challenged as individuals.

St Michael’s is the independent school of choice for Melbourne families who value dignity, respect, care and compassion, and who want their children to feel safe, nurtured and challenged as individuals.

We are an inclusive, co-educational community located on a single campus, offering state-of-the-art facilities, expert teachers, and broad, future-focused learning and development programs. These programs support each student to maximise their potential by developing their talents and nurturing their passions.

Every student is equipped with the knowledge, attributes and confidence to pursue a meaningful future. With almost 50 years of leadership in co-education, diversity and inclusion are embedded in our people, programs, policies and culture.

Our comprehensive curricular and co-curricular offerings, together with an emphasis on contributing citizenship, empower our students to make a meaningful difference in the world.

Our strong track record as leaders in co-education is reflected in consistently high VCE outcomes, with gender balance evident among our top performers and excellent post-school pathways.

In the most recent cohort, 29% of students achieved an ATAR above 90 and 55% achieved an ATAR above 80, with a median ATAR of 83.35 and a median study score of 32.

High achievement was evident across a broad range of subjects, particularly within the Creative and Performing Arts, where a significant proportion of students achieved study scores of 40 and above.

Our results reflect the strength of our inclusive co-educational model, with balanced representation among high achievers and a continued focus on supporting every student to realise their potential. Students are well prepared for life beyond school, consistently securing strong tertiary pathways, including 100% of students receiving first-preference university offers in 2024.

You can easily travel to St Michael’s by our private bus service or by public transport

If you would like to catch a public train, tram or bus to St Michael’s, head to the PTV journey planner, type in your address and the School as your destination, and save a copy of your route journey for your next trip.

St Michael's Bus Service

St Michael’s operates six bus routes traveling from the North, East, South and West of Melbourne, to and from the School every day. The buses travel from Williamstown, Port Melbourne, Keilor East, Glen Iris/Caulfield, Cheltenham/Brighton and Yarraville.

Our buses are available to all St Michael’s students.

Ticket prices are $3.00 per child, one-way, for all routes.

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students, the St Michael’s Bus Service has implemented new physical distancing measures and a rigorous cleaning process, so that our students can travel safely to School, avoiding public transport.

Please see below for some expectations for students who will be using the Bus Service.

  • Students are not to travel if they display any symptoms of being unwell.
  • Students are to physically distance themselves if possible. For example, if the bus is half full, there will be one child to a seat.
  • Students are required to carry hand sanitiser and sanitise their hands before boarding the bus.
  • Where possible, students will sit and travel in family or class groups.

For younger students who might be nervous about travelling on the bus for the first time, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your classroom teacher and we will endeavour to find bus buddies for them.
