Clayfield College is one of Queensland’s leading schools providing a tradition of quality education. Founded in 1931 Clayfield College celebrated its 75th Anniversary in 2006. The College caters for girls from PrePrep to Year 12 and boys from PrePrep to Year 5. The College also caters for boarding students from Year 5. The College has a strong academic emphasis where students are encouraged to set and achieve personal goals within the academic arena. Small class sizes ensure more attention can be given to each individual child’s needs. This approach has successfully ensured high academic results over many years for Clayfield College students. The Christian beliefs of the community support the personal development and fulfilment of each student’s life both during their time at school and upon completion of Year 12. Kodaly music teaching methods are employed from Pre-Prep to Year 12 and the De Bono Thinking Skills are heavily featured across the entire curriculum. Emphasis is placed on the care and nurturing of the individual. All teachers take an active interest in the well-being and general development of each student.

Easy access to rail and bus, close to the city centre and airports, before- and after-school care on the premises for Junior School, Year 8 academic scholarships. More than 90% of students receive tertiary offers on a regular basis.

JUNIOR SCHOOLING (Pre-Prep to Year 5):
In the Junior School students are encouraged to achieve to their personal best in a wide range of areas. Pre-Prep is primarily a play based program whilst the Prep program is based on the Preschool Curriculum Guidelines. Years 1 -5, all students follow a common curriculum based around the national Key Learning Areas (KLAs):
English, Mathematics, Study of Society & Environment and Science while specialists teach The Arts, including Music and Visual Art, Health and Physical Education, Library Skills, Information Communication Technologies, Learning Support, Gifted & Talented, Reading Intervention, Christian Education, LOTE, including Japanese, Design Technology and English as a Second Language.

MIDDLE SCHOOLING
(Years 6 -9):
The curriculum in the Middle Schooling Years is based on the Essential Learnings, published by the Queensland Studies Authority, across the eight nationally recognised Key Learning Areas (KLAs). Students in Years 6, 7 and 8 work in core classes where they study a common curriculum together. Each class is assigned a core teacher who teaches a number of subjects to that class. In Year 6 the core teacher will teach at least 4 subjects, in Year 7 at least 3 subjects and in Year 8 at least two subjects. This is augmented by specialist teachers in other subejcts. Year 9 is the bridge from Middle Schooling to Senior Schooling. In this year students study a variety of common subjects as well as three elective subjects. Specific needs of students are met with programs such as English as a Second Langauge, Learning Support and Enrichment Programs.

SENIOR SCHOOLING
(Years 10 – 12):
The Senior School curriculum is structured to meet the needs of students aiming for tertiary study as well as those wishing to pursue other post-school pathways. Special Needs students and Gifted & Talented students are also catered for. Subjects offerred in Year 10 are designed to be both terminating courses, representing for some students, their final year of study in a particular subject, as well as foundation courses for subjects undertaken in Years 11 and 12. Students in Years 11 and 12 can choose from subjects leading to the award of an Overall Position (OP) or choose a vocatioanl oriented course which may lead to a Selection Rank. All courses offerred in Years 11 and 12 may contribute to the award of the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).
