The responsibility for choosing the right private school can often be a stressful one. Apart from the obvious financial investment, as a parent you want to ensure that the school you select will provide your child with a solid foundation that encourages your child to achieve their personal best, offer a diverse and rich curriculum, instil values and respect, but most of all, to provide an environment where your child will love to learn. At Immanuel education is our business. We believe that our College should be judged by daily College life rather than a scripted performance. To gauge whether we are the right school for your child is to allow them to 'walk with us' as an Immanuel student for a day. This is an invaluable experience to allow your child the opportunity to establish friendships, meet our highly qualified and enthusiastic teachers, participate in classroom activities and experience the everyday opportunities that are the soul of our College. If you would like your child to ‘walk with us’ for a day, please contact our Enrolment Registrar, Mrs Irene Dabinet on 07 5477 3441 or by email at to make arrangements.

Immanuel Lutheran College is taking enrolments for 2010 and beyond in our new custom designed Early Learning Precinct. The Precinct includes the Immanuel Early Learning Centre – that will replace the current Kindergarten – and Prep Centre and will be finished in time for the 2010 school year.

Costing over $3.5 million, features of the Precinct include:

• 3 Prep classrooms
• 3 rooms in the Early Learning Centre catering for 2 ½ – 5 year olds
• 2 best practice experiential play spaces
• A parent meeting space
• Flexibility to cater for various age groups
• Significant natural rainforest.
An outdoor learning area is also being built that will cater for up to 500 students.
The College is well equipped with:

• A 25m indoor heated swimming pool
• An indoor sports stadium
• A dance studio
• A gymnasium for our elite athletes
• Three playing fields.
Immanuel is leading the way in Queensland and Australia by integrating leading edge technology into the curriculum.

Immanuel is one of only three schools in Australia to be awarded a national Innovations in Education Grant worth $178 000 from Hewlett Packard. This is an outstanding achievement as applications were received from around the world.

The grant will provide the College with 30 tablet computers where the screen can be swivelled around and a digital pen used to ‘write’ on the screen. The ability to communicate with the computer via handwriting makes the tablets invaluable for maths and science students where equations and diagrams can be sketched quickly and shared digitally.

Hewlett Packard also recognised that we are leading the way in using our natural environment to enhance learning. The tablets will allow Immanuel students to conduct more field work in our rainforest where they can be used with wireless and GPS devices to enhance the way in which biology, geography, physics and mathematics are taught.
Our goal is to produce exceptional, well rounded young adults and we achieve this, to a large degree, at our Mount Binga campus.

Any student and Old Scholar will say that one of the highlights of an Immanuel education is their Mount Binga experience. All Year 10 students go to Mount Binga in the Blackall Ranges to gain an appreciation of the environment, to forge new relationships and to understand the importance of independence and self reliance.

Students do their own cooking, washing and prepare camp rations. They learn how to work and live together; how to depend on and appreciate each other far more than in the normal school routine. They learn bush survival skills; they learn how to hike, to read maps and navigate; and they learn how valuable water is for farming and livestock.
Immanuel Lutheran College is committed to providing a distinctive Christian education based on the unconditional love of Jesus Christ. All members of the school community are challenged to grow in their lives in Christ as they seek to fulfil their vocations.
CORE VALUES AND BELIEFS

• Centrality of the Gospel
We acknowledge God’s Word as the authority and guide for the community. In it Christ is revealed, providing the centre of all we do under God’s grace.

• Worth of the Individual
We believe each person in the community is important, their worth attested by Christ and should be able to reach their potential: academically, spiritually, physically, culturally and socio-emotionally.

• Excellence
Our aim is to strive for excellence in an education which is authentic, life-related and future-orientated.

• Importance of Relationships
We believe that in Christ all are equal, regardless of race, ability, gender or physical nature, and are committed to each other in caring, just, supporting, encouraging and forgiving relationships.

• Service
We believe that we are to serve one another and the community.

• Respect for the environment
We believe that the natural environment is to be preserved and protected as we interact with it.

• Sense of Community
We believe that Immanuel is enriched as we develop school pride and spirit and as we interact with the wider community.
