Kingswood College has 121 years of history and a proud tradition of excellence in education. Kingswood is a small school with a big agenda and enrolment is capped at 700. The core of the Kingswood Educational philosophy is “know yourself … be yourself”. We believe in the freedom to explore, that students discover who they truly are and the benefits of a school community which has high expectations of each student.  The Kingswood community is open and supportive in style, and celebrates unity as well as individual differences.  Our students work together, but also to have the courage to go against the crowd and stand out from others. Our purpose is to enrich the cultural, intellectual and spiritual capacities of young people to live purposefully in the community. JUNIOR SCHOOL

 Our Junior School students are motivated to explore an exciting world of wonder and discovery via a comprehensive and diverse Learning Program from Kindergarten through to Year 6. Within purpose built learning areas, our students are engaged and challenged by a co-ordinated and progressive curriculum where they develop the foundations of literacy, numeracy, technology and creativity. Our curriculum is specifically designed to develop in each child a sense of identity, personal confidence and achievement and to stimulate each child’s enthusiasm for learning.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Students are encouraged to explore the possibilities open to them, to make choices and be accountable for their actions. It is a time for them to create their future. Leadership qualities are fostered and engagement in a wide range of activities is promoted. They experience a broad curriculum programme and every student is involved in sport and the performing arts. In the school community students are encouraged to voice their opinions, listen to the concerns of others and take action. At each year level innovative curriculum programmes are in place that take into account the age and stage of each student’s development. As a Victorian first, the Certificate III in Employability Skills is interwoven throughout the Middle Years curriculum, allowing students to complete Year 10 with an increment (10 per cent of the average of their highest four study scores) towards their VCE ENTER score, as well as attain a nationally recognised certificate.

SENIOR SCHOOL

The distinctive Senior School environment provides the setting for Years 11 and 12 students to experience an exemplary VCE curriculum. The subject range is broad, enabling students with a keen interest in the Arts (Visual and Performing), Humanities, Sciences, Mathematics, Commerce, Computing Technologies, Materials Technologies and vocational streams to be provided for. Complementary to the more formal curriculum offering is the broad range of co-curricular experiences beyond the classroom, which provide opportunities for exploring self. Students benefit from the collegiate interaction between students and staff, which is based on mutual trust and support. They are expected to rise to the challenge of communicating in a mature manner reflective of taking responsibility for their learning very seriously. To symbolise this culture senior students do not wear a uniform but work to a dress code.
