Our Community

An Anglican and Uniting Church day and residential secondary college, Kormilda seeks to provide a high quality learning and living environment for its students from Year 7 through to Year 12.

Kormilda is centrally located between the Cities of Darwin and Palmerston in the Northern Territory of Australia and offers an affordable independent Christian education in a coeducational and multicultural environment.

Kormilda College embraces students from all faiths and religions, and actively promotes cultural diversity, understanding and reconciliation.

Our students enjoy modern, airconditioned classrooms. Our campus covers 20 hectares (52 acres) and features views of the Darwin City skyline and harbour. Our Middle School caters for students from Years 7 to 9 and our Senior School from Years 10 to 12.
The Kormilda College Middle School teaches using the IB Middle Years Programme. In the Senior School students have a choice of study options as Kormilda College offers both the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training, and the International Baccalaurete Diploma.

In 2009 Kormilda students excelled, achieving two of the top three Tertiary Entrance Ranking (TER) scores in the Northern Territory, three of the top 10, and five of the top 20. In 2010 95% of our Year 12 IB and NTCET candidates were successful, and for the fourth consecutive year, all Kormilda's Indigenous Year 12 candidates were successful.
These are guided annually by student interest. The range of activities is broad and includes Debating, Tournament of Minds, Cricket, AFL, Basketball, Rugby League and Union, Chess, Philosophy, Sailing, and Creative Writing to name just a few.
Kormilda College from its Christian foundation and commitment to excellence seeks to inspire its students to be life-long learners who act with compassion and justice through their understanding of others, and who develop the wisdom and courage to shape the future.
An Anglican and Uniting Church College, Kormilda accepts students of all faiths and religions.

Kormilda College has four boarding houses that can accomodate up to 300 students. The majority of our boarding students are Indigenous and from remote north Australian communities, but we do have a small number of non-Indigenous and International students.

Although nearly all of our boarding students are full-time the College also welcomes enquiries about weekly boarding.

Our boarding houses are all located on the College campus, ensuring a safe walk between the school and the residences. They are named in the local Indigenous language of Larrakia - Gumimba (freshwater crocodile), Dewarra (spider), Daldawa (Jabiru), and Galangwa (Bloodwood tree).

The consolidated boarders fee for Australian students ranges from $23,448 to $23,900 in 2011.
