One of Brisbane’s leading girls schools, Moreton Bay College (MBC) offers a unique, all-round education for each student, based on its record of outstanding academic achievement, exceptional cultural and sporting success and a strong commitment to Christian values and service to others. The College is a Prep to Year 12 Uniting Church independent day school for girls, with a childcare centre for boys and girls. Set amongst 20 tranquil hectares at Manly West, the spacious campus and excellent facilities provide opportunities for all students to participate in the broad co-curricular programme and to experience success, not only academically, but also in music, drama, art, and a wide range of sports. The College’s challenging and comprehensive academic curriculum is taught by creative, dynamic teachers with attention to the individual needs of students, so that each girl is encouraged to reach her own level of excellence. The strong work ethic and commitment to excellence of students and teachers saw MBC heralded as the top academic school in South East Queensland for 2008, as reported by The Courier-Mail (5 May 2009), with 97% of OP eligible students achieving an OP of 15 or better. High levels of achievement by both OP and non-OP students will open doors into tertiary education and the workforce for MBC graduates, providing them with choices and options into the future.

The Moreton Bay College philosophy promotes the all-round development of students and, in doing so, boasts some of the best academic, cultural and sporting facilities in Queensland, set as it is amongst native trees, shrubs, green ovals and landscaped gardens.

With the highest possible standards of intellectual education, intimately linked to the full development of our girls’ personal character and integrity, every Moreton Bay graduate can meet her future with positive self-esteem and confidence in her own abilities.

• Prep
At Moreton Bay College, the Prep Program provides a unique early education experience, where a girl’s play is her work. The dedicated and qualified Prep ensure the girls’ minds and bodies are continuously guided, stimulated and encouraged in their first semi-structured year of education.

• Primary
The comprehensive and well-resourced Primary curriculum is based on the State syllabuses, and is supported by specialist Art, Language, Music and Physical Education teachers.

• Secondary
The lower Secondary curriculum (Years 8-10) is framed around nine learning areas: English, Mathematics, Science, Studies of Society and the Environment, The Arts, Personal Development, Technology, Languages and Business.

At the senior Secondary level (Years 11 -12), more than twenty-five Queensland Curriculum Authority subjects are offered as well as four Authority-Registered subjects. Significant numbers of Senior years students participate in TAFE co-operative programs and, to the extent that employers are available, school-based traineeships are offered. A modified academic program is also available to students performing at elite levels in sporting and cultural fields.
At Moreton Bay College we are confident that each girl’s participation in co-curricular pursuits, whether at a beginner, intermediate or elite level, encourages her to strive for personal goals, fosters teamwork and gives her exposure to the qualities of perseverance, determination, commitment, fair play, courage and hope.

The College has a proud tradition of wide co-curricular choice in both the cultural and sporting arenas, and today it offers one of the best ranges of co-curricular activities in the State. In principle, we advocate a broad and balanced educational and co-curricular program, one which supports and nurtures the development of the complete young adult.

Girls are also eligible for District, Regional, State and National selection for sporting and cultural pursuits. Teams of MBC students and individual girls consistently reach the highest levels of representative honour in the country.

Clubs and Groups at MBC extend the range of co-curricular activities available to students. Areas as diverse as service learning, Christian fellowship and academic extension provide opportunities for students to engage with others across year levels in various interest areas.

As an adjunct to the College co-curricular program, private tuition provides participating students with a further opportunity to develop skills and expertise in the cultural and sporting arena.
Through the provision of a stimulating, secure and supportive learning environment based on Christian principles and beliefs, Moreton Bay College aims to provide each girl with the opportunity to develop qualities of compassion, respect, tolerance, dignity, self-worth and confidence.

We are committed to providing the full breadth of personal growth and development opportunities to each girl.

We also work to instill in each student that ultimately it is she who is responsible for her own development, and to this end, we encourage students to make the greatest use of opportunities provided by the College.
