Stuartholme School was established in 1920 by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart. Nurtured in the tradition of the Five Goals of Sacred Heart Education, the embodiment of Stuartholme's educational philosophy uniquely positions it in union with over 140 Sacred Heart Schools across five Continents - a philosophy which gives expression to an education that is holistic in nature and life - forming in frame. It provides a dynamic learning and caring community encouraging girls to become women of faith, integrity, wisdom, spirit, compassion, justice and hope... a woman who values her spiritual and intellectual journey and her life - long connection to the Sacred Heart family. Based on care and mutual trust and the development of a positive partnership between the student's family and the school, boarding at Stuartholme provides a unique experience of residential community living in a safe and secure environment that nurtures and supports each girl. There is a commitment to maintaining an appropriate balance in the composition of its Boarding community which includes students from rural and isolated locations, including expatriate Australians, as well as International and Metropolitan students.

Air-conditioned classrooms expansively equipped with cutting edge technology, a modern complex comprising a large library containing two electronic learning centres, a spacious auditorium offering drama opportunities and extensive Art and Music areas. Comprehensive boarding facilities to accommodate 145 students. Sporting facilities include swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts and playing areas for other sports. Stuartholme enjoys the luxury of a magnificent environment situated in the foothills of Mt. Coot - tha overlooking Brisbane's CBD.
Being a school that educates in the traditions of the Sacred Heart, Stuartholme's curriculum is academic and liberal. It is academic in the sense that the girls are expected to achieve excellence; the standards are rigorous and the culture, scholarly. It is liberal in the sense that girls are given an early opportunity to experience all the facets of the school's curricular offerings so that they might make more informed choices when they eventually begin to specialise in the disciplines and subjects of their choice.
The curriculum, together with the co-curricular offerings, aims to offer opportunities for development in the domains of the Five Goals of Sacred Heart Education - to foster faith, community, knowledge, understanding, social awareness and character.
Year 8: Students study a common broad curriculum: English, Mathematics, Science, Studies of Society and Environment, French, Japanese, Art, Drama, Music, Health and Physical Education, Religion and Technology.
Years 9 and 10: Studies comprise a common core and a smaller number of elective subjects. The core is designed to give all students a broad educational base while allowing them the freedom to select some subjects of special interest. More details can be found in "Curriculum" on the website: www.stuartholme.com
Years 11 and 12: While the course is deigned to prepare girls for all post - secondary opportunities, university and vocational,it must include the study of either Study of Religion or Religious Education, English and Mathematics A and/or Mathematics B together with four elective subjects of personal interest or of future career value. A "Guide to Courses" may be found in "Curriculum" on the website: www.stuartholme.com
Intensive programmes are offered for the gifted and talented and diverse education for those, including students who do not have English as their first language, in need of extra tuition.
Within the framework of the holistic education offered, the academic programme is balanced by vibrant, enriching co-curricular opportunities which include an extensive performing arts programme of drama, music and movement conducted in specialised facilities together with many varied clubs and societies and sixteen (16) branches of competitive sports which offer opportunities of State and National representation.
From 2010 onwards Stuartholme will undergo its own digital evolution of integrating technology and learning through the 1:1 iLearn programme. Initially it will be introduced into the Years 8,10 and 11 curricular and ultimately the other Years.
