Gaia Festival and Open Day
‘Gaia’ is the Greek Earth Mother Goddess. She lends her name to the Rockhampton Girls Grammar Gaia Festival which honours and celebrates the wonderful creativity and significant contributions that women have made to the Rockhampton community.
On a Saturday in May each year over 70 market stall holders display their handcrafted treasures and visitors can purchase clothing, exquisite jewellery, millinery creations, artwork, organic skin care products, candles and perfumes. Tantalising foods are available including Devonshire teas, Danish pastries and Indian curries. We support the RFDS with a multidraw raffle.
Entertainment throughout the Festival includes dance, drama, fashion parades, rock bands and choir performances. Younger visitors receive an ‘Activity Quest’ which invites them to complete Science, Art and Physical Activity challenges across the Festival venue. This great family day-out unfolds in Rockhampton at the Girls Grammar School oval on the Range which is located just five minutes from both the airport and the city centre.
The 2014 Rockhampton Gaia Festival is on Saturday 24 May, opening at 10.00am until 2.00pm. See you there!
