About Us

Livingstone commenced in 2002 as a small primary school, and has developed its fabric to keep pace with growth (1040 students in 2016). Facilities now include a Trade Training Centre, a Childcare Centre [also offering Before and After School care as well as Vacation Care], fully air-conditioned classrooms, a state-of-the- art Resources Building, and modern, well equipped specialist rooms. PrePrep is offered on a long day basis, or as a school hours program – also in modern teaching facilities.

Livingstone is member of the non-denominational CCM (Christian Community Ministries) Group, which operates eight successful schools in Queensland – with others in New South Wales and South Australia. It is a member of ISQ (Independent Schools, Queensland).
Curriculum at Livingstone is designed to be engaging and relevant for 21st century learners. We offer a diverse range of subjects including academic, vocational and trade pathways. Our curriculum is Christ-centred and Bible-based, whilst also meeting all government and tertiary entrance requirements. The College desires for all students to engage in a balanced and exemplary targeted learning program permeated with the skills and processes that develop literacy, numeracy, life-skills, creativity and critical thinking.

Curriculum delivery is supported by excellent modern teaching facilities including Mac labs for specialist Music and Media subjects, a fully equipped gym, specialist Science, IT, Home Economics and Art facilities, Dance and Drama studios and a Trade Training Centre.

Livingstone is a member of the Association of Gold Coast Colleges which provides students with quality  weekly opportunities for interschool sporting competition. Teams also compete in a variety of other regional and district competitions. In the area of the Arts, the Livingstone Arts Academy provides co-curricular programs in Dance, Drama, Speech and Instrumental Music.

Embedded in the elements of ‘The Livingstone Way’ - Community, Curriculum, Care, Culture and Competition - are our foundational values. These are the way we do LIFE at Livingstone. At Livingstone Christian College we value:

LEARNING - as an educational institution we place a high value on learning. We believe that every student has the ability to learn and every student has the right to learn in an environment that is safe and supportive. Teaching and learning forms part of our core business as a College and is not limited to classroom curriculum. Learning, ‘The Livingstone Way’ encourages students to develop a Christian worldview (including social justice in the light of the Gospel) and a need and desire to be lifelong learners and be fully equipped in developing their God-given talents and capacities.

INTEGRITY - is an extension of a person’s character and has far reaching implications. At the heart of integrity is the concept of adhering to moral and ethical principles; in our case principles that honour God as outlined in the Bible. We desire a community at Livingstone in which all members – students, staff and parents – value integrity and practice it in all areas of their lives.

FELLOWSHIP - humanity was created to live in fellowship with God and each other. We all have a basic need and desire for relationship and community. An important part of belonging to a community is the ability to fellowship together, to be able to share living space (in this case the College campus) and to work together to achieve goals. This involves an understanding of rights, responsibilities and rules.

EXCELLENCE - aiming for excellence is God-honouring and builds self-esteem. Achieving excellence, ‘The Livingstone Way’ encourages students to aspire for greatness and achieve at their own particular level of development or ability. Celebrating excellence is central to ‘The Livingstone Way’ where members of the Livingstone community will be recognized for their performance, behaviour, dedication and character.
The College’s vision is to help mould young people into cultured, tolerant and enterprising citizens of modern Australia. Its vision is supported by its emphasis on values - summed up in the acronym LIFE (standing for Learning, Integrity, Fellowship and Effort – in the Secondary Years and SHAPE (standing for Self Control, Honour, Attitude, Perseverance and Excellence – the values of the Primary Department). The College has a strong Christian ethos – though to remains strictly non-denominational.
Our aim is to provide Christ-centrd schooling in an atmosphere of love, respect, peace and discipline which will encourage students to achieve their potential for God.

Transport Options

Livingstone runs an established fleet of 15 buses to all areas surrounding the College and further. We service as far down as Nerang in the south, over to Runaway Bay in the east and then up as far north as Loganholme and Edens Landing to Cedar Creek/Logan Village in the west. We also offer a free pick up and drop off service to Ormeau Train Station. Livingstone currently offers door to door service to all of our students of Primary School age and varying options for Secondary year level students based on their living location. All of our buses have seat belts and are air-conditioned and we pride ourselves on offering the best service possible. Our bus staff are committed to their positions and have regular training throughout the year to keep them up to date with all legal requirements as well as Livingstone standards.

Principal's Message

Welcome to Livingstone Christian College.

We hope you will find us to be a place where every child flourishes. A place where your child will flourish.

We have placed emphasis on four broad areas to ensure any child can flourish, regardless of their unique strengths. These emphases are on academic achievement, sporting development (where we focus on a few key sports) and, the performing arts and community (which includes trade training, preparing students for the Asia Century and being a responsible local citizen). Within these four broad areas, we believe that every child can experience success and grow in confidence.

At our core is trying to understand how to live and act within a Christian framework. Livingstone Christian College has a strong focus on living out the values of Jesus. We recognise that Jesus lived and talked about living in a way that was contrary to the way most people live. So, our A Big Year virtues program has a monthly cross-College emphasis on one of the big themes of Jesus that could be loving our neighbours, being generous, practicing hospitality, being faithful, loving our enemies, practicing forgiveness, serving the poor or reforming ourselves rather than others.

We hope you can see that Livingstone Christian College has a unique and strong emphasis on the development of the whole child. These emphases are embedded from our Early Learning Centre through to our Senior students, where real life opportunities are provided to ensure they are ready to succeed in life beyond school.

To achieve these ends, we have assembled a great team who are determined to be the best they can be, to ensure that your child flourishes at Livingstone Christian College. We have a strong commitment to professional development and performance management processes to ensure all staff, from our teachers to bus drivers, leaders to cleaners, are all working together to ensure that every child... your child... flourishes at Livingstone Christian College.

Yours Sincerely,

Mark Laraghy
